Stitch by Stitch Therapy: Knitting and Craft Skills Workshop
Have you ever imagined what you could create with a ball of yarn and a pair of needles or a hook? Knitting is far more than a nostalgic habit passed down from our grandmothers; it is a modern meditation method that allows us to slow down in today's fast-paced world, rest our minds, and experience the joy of producing something tangible with our own hands. At Peska Sanat, we invite you to this warm and creative world, offering a pleasant workshop environment where you will de-stress with the rhythmic dance of stitches and pour your imagination into yarn.
Why Should You Learn to Knit or Crochet?
Working with yarn is very good for your soul and mind:
- Mindfulness and Stress Management: The repetitive, rhythmic motion of knitting is a proven activity that reduces anxiety by lowering blood pressure and slowing the heart rate. It allows you to focus on the present moment.
- Creativity and Productivity: The sense of satisfaction from making your own scarf, hat, blanket, or even cute toys (amigurumi) is priceless. You can create completely personal and meaningful gifts.
- Mental Activity: Learning a new pattern, following a chart, and counting stitches keeps the brain active and strengthens memory.
- A Warm Community: Knitting is often a social activity done by coming together and chatting. Our workshops are a great opportunity to meet people who feel the same way you do.
Knitting or Crochet? Which Journey is for You?
- Knitting: It is done using two needles. It is generally ideal for more drapey and flexible garments like sweaters, socks, and scarves. It offers endless texture options with different needle sizes and yarn types.
- Crochet: It is done with a single hook. It creates a firmer and more filled-in structure. It is perfect for granny square blankets, bags, and especially for Amigurumi, the art of stuffed toys that has become a favorite in recent years. It is generally considered easier for absolute beginners to control the stitches.
What Will You Learn in Our Workshops?
Whether you choose knitting or crochet, you will learn all the steps in our program to build a solid foundation:

Frequently Asked Questions
I've never held a needle or hook before. Can I really do it?
Absolutely! Our workshops are designed precisely for beginners like you who are starting from scratch. We demonstrate every step patiently and practically, starting from the very basics of casting on a stitch.
Do I need to learn crochet first to make Amigurumi?
Yes. Amigurumi is an art form built on the basic techniques of crochet (magic ring, single crochet, increase/decrease). Having basic crochet knowledge or attending our beginner's workshop is the best way before joining our Amigurumi workshops.
Do I need to bring all the materials?
For our beginner workshops, basic materials for you to try out are provided by us. However, when you want to start your own project, our instructors will guide you in choosing yarn and needles/hooks to your taste. This makes the process more personal and enjoyable.
